The Best Superhero Film Released In 2011

2011 saw the release of four big-budget superhero movies. Which one takes the cape as the years best?

“Thor’: Newcomer Chris Hemsworth sold the title role, and the movie stayed true to its comic books origins. Director Kenneth Branagh gave the film a Shakespearean quality balanced with an agreeable mix of action and humor.

“X-men: First Class’: This film is both a franchise reboot and a prequel. The film-s Cold War storyline captured the imagination of audiences and critics, as did the quality of the cast and effects. It-s one of the best-reviewed films of 2011.

Green Lantern’: Most will agree that this was the worst superhero movie of the year. Packing too much comic book mythology into one film made the story difficult for audiences to follow, and many felt Ryan Reynolds was miscast in the title role.

“Captain America’: The WWII backdrop added some weight to the story, as did a strong supporting cast. Special effects helped sell Chris Evans as skinny Steve Rogers who is transformed into the muscular hero. Fast-paced with plenty of action, this might be the best ‘pure- comic book movie of the year. On that basis, give Cap the edge over “X-men’ as the best superhero film of 2011.
